The Vividz 3rd Series
What, who and why?
This is a selection of new digital paintings that will form the 3rd series of The Vividz.
I painted over 150 acrylics and pastels of The Vividz between 1997 and 2002 in Denmark, Western Australia, Bali, Indonesia and in Guildford, Hebden Bridge and Banbury, England. A few remain in my collection, mainly small pastels and some acrylics. This new series which I am now working on will be printed as original monoprints on to paper, canvas and maybe glass.
What are these strange, enigmatic figures? They are usually red and black and populate surreal landscapes influenced by wherever I am living at the time, either physically or in my head! They were originally inspired by the wonderful Bradshaw cave paintings in North Western Australia. The figures and the dramas they enact are the result of totally sub-conscious actions and are often very revealing as a consequence!
A lot of this new work is being created on an iPad Pro using the excellent Procreate App. The work with a much more 3D look has been constructed in 3D space using Cinema4D and Unity before bringing Corel Painter, Rebelle 4 and a Wacom tablet into play. Occassionally I have mixed in a bit of photography and photo manipulation using Affinity Photo.
It remains to be seen wether or not these works wll finally be exhibited…….
